Women’s application in underrepresented subjects

Lac Hong University (LHU) is committed to encouraging women to apply for programs in fields where they remain underrepresented, such as science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Through scholarships, university outreach, and collaborations with other educational institutions, community organizations, and media partners, LHU actively promotes gender equality in education and empowers women to pursue their ambitions in non-traditional areas.

Scholarships

The Office of Student Admission and Public Relations promotes women’s access to education through transparent admission procedures, gender-equal selection processes, and scholarships for female students—especially in underrepresented fields such as STEM and engineering.

The Female Student Scholarship is an annual, fixed scholarship awarded to new entrants and also serves as a continuing scholarship for current female students who maintain good academic standing. These scholarships not only provide financial assistance but also serve as motivation for women to pursue and succeed in disciplines traditionally dominated by men.

By ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent women from studying technical fields, LHU contributes to a more inclusive and balanced academic environment.

University Outreach

LHU regularly organizes outreach activities aimed at inspiring young women to pursue higher education and explore career paths in underrepresented fields.

Lac Hong University, in collaboration with Bui Thi Xuan Primary, Secondary, and High School, organized a thematic seminar on “Career Orientation.” The seminar, delivered by career consultant Dr. Huynh Anh Binh, drew significant attention and participation from students, providing valuable guidance for their future academic and career choices.

   On March 20, 2024, LHU conducted a Career Orientation Program at Lac Hong Bilingual School, where representatives from specialized faculties shared insights about their professions and encouraged female students to consider studying engineering, technology, and other technical disciplines.

4. The university also promotes positive images of female students who have successfully studied and built careers in male-dominated areas. Their stories are featured across various media channels and communication platforms, serving as motivation for younger generations of women.

These outreach efforts play a crucial role in changing perceptions, breaking gender stereotypes, and encouraging more female students to apply to technical and scientific programs.

Collaborations

LHU actively collaborates with universities, colleges, local government agencies, community groups, and national media outlets to promote women’s participation in higher education and technical fields.

Career and Admissions Counseling Fair 2024: This annual event, organized in partnership with Dong Nai Newspaper, brings together universities and colleges across the province, including Dong Nai University, Lac Hong University, Dong Nai University of Technology, Dong Nai Medical College, and Lilama 2 International College. The fair takes place at several high schools in Dong Nai Province and provides students with information on labor market needs, career prospects, and the strengths of local universities. The program particularly emphasizes opportunities for female students in developing sectors that will expand after the Long Thanh International Airport project begins operations.

The 26th Annual “Exam Season Counseling Program”: LHU’s admissions counseling team participated in this large-scale event hosted by Thanh Nien Newspaper at Dong Nai University, attracting thousands of high school students. During the event, LHU introduced its 26 undergraduate programs across four major fields—Economics, Engineering, Health Sciences, and Languages—and presented 1,800 scholarships worth a total of 22 billion VND to incoming students.

These initiatives not only support female students financially but also inspire them to enroll in academic disciplines that traditionally attract fewer women.

LHU’s partnerships with nearly 1,000 enterprise partners also allow students—especially women—to engage in practical experiences and internships that strengthen their confidence and employability in technical professions.

Through comprehensive scholarships, proactive outreach, and strong collaborative initiatives, LHU continuously encourages women to apply for and succeed in underrepresented subjects. By bridging the gap between education, industry, and community, the university fosters an environment where women can thrive, lead, and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of science, technology, and society.
